Properties of Logarithms

Properties of Logarithms

As you may have noted in introduction to logarithms, the logarithm of a number x with respect to a base b is the exponent y to which b is raised to. We use this property to express the rules of exponents in terms of logarithms.

Learning Objectives:

  • Rules of Logarithms
  • Prove Rules of Logarithms
  • Use rules to expand logarithm of an expression
  • Use rules to rewrite a given expression containing multiple logarithms as an expression containing only one logarithm.
  • Learn and apply Change of Base Formula for both logarithms and exponential functions
