The purpose of this activity is to connect the familiar "multiply top and bottom'' procedure for making equivalent fractions to our definition of fractions and to physical actions with paper folding.
Our goal in this activity is to consider why children make errors when comparing decimal numbers, and how we can help them develop rules that reflect the true meaning of our decimal system and will work for any number.
