    Number Theory Module

    Gertrude the Gumchewer

This activity introduces the idea of an arithmetic sequence, and encourages students to think about different ways of representing such.

    I Walk the Line

This activity is intended to build on the idea of an arithmetic sequence, an approach that could work with grade 4-6 students.  We intend to emphasize recognition of a constant pattern of growth without reference to graphing or equations.  We want students to recognize that there is a constant rate of change in the following problems and that this is the same concept seen in the activity ``Gertrude the Gumchewer''.

    Where Are We?

In this activity, we want students to think about our usual coordinate system from a new perspective, i.e., beginning from the need to locate something in the plane or in space.

    The Graphic Details

We use this activity to help students focus on reasoning about graphs to get information about a certain situation.
