# Gertrude the Gumchewer

This activity introduces the idea of an arithmetic sequence, and encourages students to think about different ways of representing such.

# I Walk the Line

This activity is intended to build on the idea of an arithmetic sequence, an approach that could work with grade 4-6 students.  We intend to emphasize recognition of a constant pattern of growth without reference to graphing or equations.  We want students to recognize that there is a constant rate of change in the following problems and that this is the same concept seen in the activity Gertrude the Gumchewer''.

# Where Are We?

In this activity, we want students to think about our usual coordinate system from a new perspective, i.e., beginning from the need to locate something in the plane or in space.

# The Graphic Details

We use this activity to help students focus on reasoning about graphs to get information about a certain situation.
