Properties of Logarithms
Proving rules of logarithms and requiring students to do the same in class and in tests will be helpful.
As you may have noted in introduction to logarithms, the logarithm of a number x with respect to a base b is the exponent y to which b is raised to. We use this property to express the rules of exponents in terms of logarithms.
Learning Objectives:
- Rules of Logarithms
- Prove Rules of Logarithms
- Use rules to expand logarithm of an expression
- Use rules to rewrite a given expression containing multiple logarithms as an expression containing only one logarithm.
- Learn and apply Change of Base Formula for both logarithms and exponential functions
